THERMAL POWER PLANTS

The energy sector of any country is closely related to its economy.
The International Energy Agency (IEA) has established that fossil energy resources play a key role in the world energy sector. Their share in primary energy consumption in 2035 will be 75%, today - 81%.

Today, in Ukraine, electricity generated at thermal power plants (TPPs) is more than 37%, using organic fuels: natural gas and coal. Their equipment is designed for long-term operation.

The technical level of this equipment in terms of thermal efficiency, automation and personnel, and harmful emissions into the environment does not always meet modern requirements. The majority of the equipment of the Ukrainian electric and thermal power industry is physically worn out by almost 50-70%.

To increase the efficiency of thermal power plants, it is important to decommission old low-efficiency equipment and replace it with promising equipment, which ensures a radical reduction in specific fuel consumption for the production of electricity and heat, an increase in the installed capacity utilization rate and efficiency, a decrease in the staffing ratio, a decrease in environmentally harmful emissions into the environment, and a decrease in repair costs.

In the world today, in thermal power engineering, coal-fired power units with a coefficient of performance (CEP) of 45 - 46% and combined cycle gas plants (CCGT) with an efficiency of 55 - 58% are being built and are operating reliably.

The Svitovyr Company performed electrical installation work on the reconstruction of the Burshtyn and Dobrotvir TPPs. A detailed description of the work performed can be viewed below.

A number of works were performed at the thermal power plant:
● Reconstruction of the 220 kV GRP of the 5th power unit (Replacement of the 220 kV disconnector, relay protection).● Installation of protections on the 6 kV side of the 5th power unit's own needs (Altra device).● Cooling of the exhaust pipes of the LPG turbine of the 5th power unit● Control system, automatic and manual control, and signaling.● Steam seal systems of the K200-130-3M4 turbine of the 5th power unit.● Installation of power supply and control of electric steam pipeline valves on power unit No. 5 (unit reconstruction program).

The potential equalization system (PES) is designed to equalize the potential of all conductive parts of the building: building elements; building structures; engineering networks; communications; lightning protection systems.PES is mandatory in TN-S and TN-C-S grounding systems. It is prohibited to perform PES in the TN-C grounding system. If a difference in electrical potentials is formed between two metal objects, for example, a shower cabin and a heating radiator, then simultaneous contact between two objects by a person can be extremely dangerous. The potential equalization system makes it impossible for voltage to arise between two conductive objects. Usually, the main and additional potential equalization systems are performed.
